The Inkantic editorial desk writes the tool pages and the comparisons on this site. It is a small team building a tattoo design app, which is worth stating plainly: we are not neutral about the category, and the way we handle that is by making every claim checkable rather than by pretending otherwise.

What we test ourselves

Everything on this site runs in your browser, which means our own claims are verifiable by anyone who opens the page. The 24 lettering faces were compared by setting the same word in all of them at tattoo scale and noting where the thin strokes go — those notes are what appears under each font. The Morse layout follows the unit ratios in ITU-R M.1677-1, and the word gap of seven units is drawn as geometry rather than described in prose, which is the difference between following a standard and citing one. The ambigram pair grades come from a published list of eleven letter pairs that rotate cleanly and six letters that fight the rotation; the list is in the code, not in a judgment call.

What we only observe from outside

Claims about other companies’ tools are limited to what can be read off their own pages, and the month we read it is named next to the claim. Free tiers, sign-up requirements and payment models for the seven tools in our comparison were checked on 10 August 2026. We have not generated images in the paid tiers of those products, so we make no claims about output quality — a comparison table column is reserved for exactly that, listing what cannot be verified from outside a paywall.

Where the numbers come from

Search volume and keyword difficulty figures come from Ahrefs for the United States, pulled on 7 August 2026. Every such figure on the site carries that date, because a search volume without a date is not a fact. When a number cannot be sourced, the sentence says so rather than rounding to something plausible.
